Are you a qualified and experienced counsellor and therapist?

I have a post-graduate certificate in couple counselling, a post-graduate certificate in psychosexual therapy and a L5 diploma in sex addiction counselling. In addition to 17+ years as a therapist, I worked for Relate for 15 years.

Do you belong to a professional body?

I am an Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a member of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT) and the Association for the Treatment of Sex Addiction and Compulsivity (ATSAC).

These organisations require evidence of qualifications and good professional standards, and I am bound by their codes of conduct. They also provide complaints procedures should this be required.

What is your cancellation policy?

Sessions that are cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice are chargeable in full.

Do you issue receipts?

I provide receipts for all payments made.

When do I pay?

You will receive an appointment confirmation, including a secure payment link, at the time of booking, and I request payment at least 48 hours before your appointment.

How long does counselling/therapy last?

Sex and porn addiction therapy typically lasts 12-20 sessions.

The actual number depends on the issues you are exploring and how we choose to work.

How long is a session?

Sessions last 50 minutes.

How frequent will the sessions be?

It is helpful to meet weekly where possible.

Will the sessions be confidential?

Yes. My counselling room is completely private, and I follow the guidance of my professional bodies in the way I take and store notes.

Zoom offers a fully encrypted, safe and secure platform for counselling sessions. It allows you to log on wherever you are, so long as you have privacy. You can be confident that what you say will be kept private.

When should I come for counselling?

Sex addiction covers any sexual activity that feels ‘out of control’ and causes problems in someone’s life. Despite trying to stop, they find they are unable to do so. If you can identify with this, it may be time to seek help. Attending your first counselling session takes courage, and I aim to make the experience as comfortable as possible.

Can counselling really help me?

Being open and honest is crucial in making progress in overcoming your difficulties.

Will I need to put time aside outside the sessions?

You may be asked to do some short tasks between counselling sessions.
